Bible Reading Plans

One of the things that we want to make available to everyone are some Bible Reading Plans.  Scanning across the Net, there are several - dare I say 'a plethora' - of plans available.  Here are some of those sites:

http://www.blueletterbible.org/reader/daily/
You can download printable pdf copies of Canonical (Biblical book order), Chronological, Historical, Old Testament and New Testament Together, and Blended)

http://www.bibleplan.org/
This is a fun one that will send your daily reading scripture references to your email.  13 plans to choose from with several different translations available.  You can even double up on some (ie - OT over two years, NT every year, etc)

http://www.intothyword.org/
This is a website by guy who was inspired by Francis Schaeffer.  Not only does it include Bible Plans, but also includes information on how to study the Bible.

http://www.bible-reading.com/bible-plan.html
This site includes a plan that is based upon GENRE.  For example:  Sunday=Epistles, Monday=The Law, Tuesday=History, Wednesday=Psalms, Thursday=Poetry, Friday=Prophecy, Saturday=Gospels.  Good for those who may be a little ADD.  HA!  This is one of the first plans that I tried and enjoyed.

http://www.zondervan.com/Cultures/en-US/Product/Bible/Plans.htm?QueryStringSite=Zondervan
This is Zondervan publishing companies bible reading plans site.  This one takes into account where you may be on your journey with Jesus.  For example:  Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.  Also, includes a variety of different topical reading plans.

http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/readingplan.asp?version=51&startmmdd=0101
Here are some more downloadable plans by the One Year Bible folks.

Whew!  Have fun sifting through to find the best plan for you.  Imagine what great truths lie ahead for you as you read and study God's Word!!

Christmas is almost here!!!!

Woohoo!!  I am so excited to share with you at our Christmas Eve services @ KCI!

Just so you know, we will have 2 services on Christmas Eve:
  • 4:00 pm
  • 5:30 pm
both services are the same.
Also, we will have a "Lord's Supper Worship Station" in the welcome room area for families who wish to participate in Lord's Supper.  This is a self-guided worship station with a printed guide to help you lead your family.

We will also be taking up a Christmas offering in which all proceeds go to the Hunger Fund.
Please click "Hunger Fund" for FAQ so that you are aware and feel comfortable how the money will be used.

Don't forget about the Christmas Dinner @ Platte City Middle School!!  Sally, the boys, and I will be helping with the clean up.  There are already over 200 volunteers AND we still need more!!  Just show up and Kevin Oliver will put you to work.  It is a great way for us to give back to our community and those less fortunate during this Christmas Season.

May God bless you this Christmas - so that you may bless others in His name.

Merry Christmas!

Identity Theft - Scriptures - You Are Significant!!

Okay - I am a day late (and still a dollar short - ha!).  Be encouraged that you are not worthless, inadequate, helpless, or hopeless.  In Christ, you are significant:

  • You are the salt of the earth and the light of the world Matthew 5:13-14 (NLT) 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
  • You are a branch of the true vine, Jesus, a channel of His life  John 15:1, 5 (NLT)1 “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
  • You have been chosen and appointed by God to bear fruit John 15:16 (NLT)16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.
  • You are a personal, Spirit-empowered witness of Christ's Acts 1:8 (NLT)8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
  • You are a temple of God 1 Corinthians 3:16 (NLT)16 Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?
  • You are a minister of reconciliation for God  2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (NLT)
17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.
19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
  • You are God's coworker  2 Corinthians 6:1 (NLT) 1 As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.
  • You are seated with Christ in the heavenly realm  Ephesians 2:6 (NLT) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
  • You are God's workmanship, created for good works  Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
  • You may approach God with freedom and confidence  Ephesians 3:12 (NLT) 12 Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.
  • You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you  Philippians 4:13 (NLT)  13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
I hope these scriptures have been an encouragement to you as they have been for me in understanding my identity in Christ as well as a solid Biblical foundation to stand upon in prayer.

The material for these three blogs came from page 23 of Neil T. Anderson's short workbook entitled "the steps to FREEDOM in CHRIST"  ISBN 0-8307-3588-0  (Click title to see on Amazon.com)

It is a great tool to use in prayer before God in confession of personal struggles and working through struggling thoughts, behaviors, conflicts, self-doubt, etc.

Until next time -
Ephesians 3:14-21 (NLT)
14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,
15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.
16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.
17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.
19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Identity Theft - Scriptures - You Are Secure!!

As we continue our scriptures for devotional and quiet time, here are some scriptures to encourage you that you are not alone, abandoned, nor unprotected:

  • I am free from condemnation
Romans 8:1-2 (NLT) 1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

  • I am assured that all things work together for good
Romans 8:28 (NLT) 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

  • I am free from any condemning charges against me
Romans 8:31-34 (NLT) 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

  • I cannot be separated from the love of God
Romans 8:35-39 (NLT) 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • I have been established, anointed and sealed by God
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (NLT) 21 It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, 22 and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.

  • I am confident that the good work God has begun in me will be perfected
Philippians 1:6 (NLT) 6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

  • I am a citized of heaven
Philippians 3:20 (NLT) 20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.

  • I am hidden with Christ in God
Colossians 3:3 (NLT) 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

  • I have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and discipline
2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

  • I can find grace and mercy to help in time of need
Hebrews 4:16 (NLT) 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me
1 John 5:18 (NLT) 18 We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them.

Identity Theft - Scriptures - You Are Accepted!

The previous sermon series (click here for sermons online link), Identity Theft was a great series on 'Who we are in Christ'!!

As stated at the end of the services, I wanted to post several scripture references for your personal devotional time and quiet time with God.  The material from this is from Neil T. Anderson's workbook - Steps to Freedom in Christ.

Romans 5:1 (NLT) Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

1 Corinthians 6:17 (NLT) But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT) 19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

  • I am a member of Christ's Body (1 Corinthians 12:27)
1 Corinthians 12:27 (NLT) All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

  • I have been adopted as God's child (Ephesians 1:5)
Ephesians 1:5 (NLT) God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

  • I have direct access to God through the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:18)
Ephesians 2:18 (NLT) Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

  • I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins (Colossians 1:14)
Colossians 1:13-14 (NLT)13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, 14 who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.

  • I am complete in Christ (Colossians 2:10)
Colossians 2:10 (NLT) So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
